Discover Bodin

Bodin, pioneer in organic since 1979

At Bodin, organic has always been part of our history. It had a modest beginning in the markets of the Vendée area in western France, where Jean Bodin sold his products.

In 1979, long before there were any official regulations, he was one of the first to take the bold step of producing organic chickens with a model that prioritised respect for all things living. His convictions laid the foundations for organic poultry farming that we continue to develop alongside our farmers and partners.

The reason our commitment to organic farming remains as strong as it is today is because we believe in the need to support and develop operations that conserve natural resources, care for human health and animal welfare.

45 years of history

Stand Bodin en 1979 à Fontenay-le-Comte, présentant des poulets bio rôtis et illustrant les débuts pionniers de la marque.

1979

It all begins in the Vendée area of western France with Jean Bodin, who teams up with two other farmers to sell his first organic poultry at markets.

1982

Marcel Bodin, Jean's third son, starts producing organic poultry feed: a key stage in the birth of our operations.

1984

Encouraged by the success of their organic chickens, the Bodin family create the Bodin company and launch the Picoreur brand, dedicated to specialist organic shops.

1992

The first French specification for organic livestock production is approved. The Bodin family play an active role. Other enthusiastic organic breeders soon join the operation.

2014

We become the first company to be awarded the Bioentreprisedurable© certification by Synabio, in recognition of our environmental and social commitment.

2017

Our Bodin teams innovate on packaging by replacing plastic trays with cardboard trays. This makes Le Picoreur the first poultry brand to offer this sustainable packaging, a concrete step forward that will reduce the use of plastic by more than 20 tonnes every year.

2022

We enter into a partnership with the BEE FRIENDLY® certification to further improve our practices and enable farms to become oases of biodiversity.

2024

We affirm our identity with a redesigned logo and a new tagline, "Elevons le bio" ("Let's raise organic"), in line with our full commitment to organic poultry farming.
