Bodin organic poultry farming

Our business is based on organic poultry farming based in the west of France.

From feeding and rearing our poultry to the preparation of our recipes, we work hard at every stage to respect animal welfare, protect the environment and human health, and ensure the long-term future of our farming.

 

 

Feeding our poultry

Our poultry is fed on organic cereals and plants, without GMOs*, grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilisers.

At our Écouflant workshop just outside Nantes (Maine-et-Loire), we check the quality of all our supplies and prepare the organic feed for our poultry. And because a chick’s nutritional requirements are different from those of a chicken or turkey, each feed is adapted according to species and age.

The organic cereals used in poultry feed are of French origin.

Some of these cereals come directly from the wheat and maize harvests of our partner farmers. By growing food for Bodin’s organic poultry, they are taking part in an internally-reinforced cycle that helps to preserve the soil, biodiversity and water resources, while guaranteeing high-quality organic poultry.

Our partner breeders: at the heart of our farming

We work with 122 organic poultry farmers located across the fields of the West of France, in a dynamic and vivacious farming area.

As key players in our farming, our farmers share our vision and are involved in our business. A breeders’ committee regularly brings together members of the Bodin team and breeders elected by their peers, so that everyone can have their say and contribute to decision-making.

We have built long-term, contractual partnerships with them, based on mutual commitments, trust and dialogue. For new breeders, we commit to 10-year partnerships. Some of them have been with us for decades, like Hervé, a Bodin breeder since 1986.

On a day-to-day basis, our technical team works closely with farmers to ensure that they receive the best possible support: advice on animal welfare, assistance with farm management, implementation of organic and Bee Friendly specifications, etc.

Our partner production sites

To develop our various products, we rely on six partner sites, located in the across the West of France, in the heart of our breeders’ sites.
These sites play a key role in our business: slaughter and butchering, preparation of ready-made products… each one is specialised to guarantee efficiency and quality.

All of them are certified organic, with regular inspections and audits to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and product quality.

Our partner sites are also IFS-certified, an internationally recognised benchmark for compliance with the most stringent standards in terms of food safety, traceability and product quality.
